Coach John has been with Free Flow Academy since the beginning - March 2012. Not only is he a beloved Parkour Coach, but he is also a maker/diy'er/artist/upcycler/master builder. Coach John has contributed substantially to our space. He painted the giant Dragon Mural in the party area, as well as many other works of art. His contribution to Free Flow Academy has given it a "Movement Museum" vibe - Charcoal Sketches of human anatomy, an Oil Pastel of a Gladiator, and a Primitive Man posing in Cat position.
Coach John also screen prints Free Flow Academy T-shirts and Merchandise as well as for his own start-up clothing line JTP apparel (Functional Fashion with a flare for Adventure).
When he's not teaching/training in Parkour, he's making things - from building chests and furniture, to carving wooden bowls, painting and drawing, and repairing or fixing things around the gym.
Jessica is an experienced Aerial instructor with over 60 hours of instructor training through the New England Center for Circus Arts. She started doing Aerial Arts in 2013 after transitioning from 8 years of competitive gymnastics. Jessica began teaching with Free Flow Academy (now the PPAC) in 2015 and is currently the Head Aerial instructor. She brings all her experience and training to every class she teaches, and is excited to share her love of movement, and her passion for Aerial Arts. Jessica is always learning and growing in her craft and has completed hundreds of hours of additional training in Silks, Straps, Rope, Spanish Web, and Lyra, and is completely self-taught on Sphere. She has performed at numerous events around the local area and is currently seeking and expanding her performance opportunities. Jessica loves dynamic movement and spinning, and really enjoys creating and finding different combinations and sequences that together become something amazing. She believes that Aerial Arts provides a great way for students to find and show their athleticism and power, as well as their grace and elegance, and hopes to encourage and inspire her students to find passion for movement in their pursuit of Aerial Arts.
Joshua Waters, also known as “Coach Josh,” has been working with Free Flow Academy since September 2015. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve as an employer for Josh. He came to Free Flow Academy, first as a student, then as an apprentice. After 3 months of apprenticing, Josh became a Junior Parkour and Tumbling Instructor, and then more recently, was promoted to Senior Parkour Instructor, and Head Tumbling Instructor. Josh’s experiences as a competitive gymnast gives him a very unique perspective in our industry. Josh is committed to excellence, and is quite possibly, the most thorough person I have ever met. He understands truly, how important it is to understand fundamentals of movement, and to strengthen the mind body connection. He breaks things down, forward and backward for his students. He is astute in his observations, and is highly analytical. I believe because of his nature, he will be able to accomplish and perform extremely complex and difficult tasks. I have no doubt, that if it is within his ambition, he will continue to do important things. Honestly, If I were in position to do so, I would recommend he join the CIA, or some special forces unit to help our country take out ISIS and other Terrorist Groups. Because he is the kind of person that could probably figure out how to do that.
Josh has taught well over a hundred students, in the last 2 years. He developed and organized our current Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Tumbling skill sheets, which are published online via the Academy blog, and is a document that aids all enrolled students at our Academy, who choose to pursue the discipline of Tumbling. Josh’s work will help hundreds, even thousands of students who are looking for an organized, standardized, and structured approach to their training.
Josh shares a belief and attitude that I truly admire. He believes things can always be done better. His attitude is that of leadership with humility. He understands how things can be improved upon, but he is also patient and generous with his time and energy in making improvements. He has a big heart, and volunteers himself for tasks that are difficult to complete. He is always up for the challenge. He is tenacious and brings others around him to a higher standard. He is not driven by monetary gain, he is driven by contribution to the greater community. I find this to be one of his greatest qualities. Josh has the courage to live each day with integrity, and to stand by his beliefs and values. He is a shining example to others, and is indeed a special person who will serve multitudes of people in a variety of capacities.
Did you receive an email with subject line "Notification"?
Is a Notification
a Red Card?
No. This is not a Red
Card. A Red Card Notification serves to educate and clarify the intentions of our Staff and Management
team. It also serves as a platform to open a dialogue, between management and clients. Our intention is always to keep
you (the client) safe, along with the physical and emotional safety of other
clients and our Staff. Your account will
have a notification, which will be removed after 30 days.
What a Notification means:
We understand that accountability is an important growth
opportunity. Our Academy values are
based on Growth, Integrity, and Friendship, and we uphold those values through
our agency to communicate with one another.
Whenever there is an issue, it’s important we be diligent on obtaining
facts, so that we can make informed decisions.
To preserve our Values, we have certain rules, guidelines, and behaviors
that need to be enforced. Our Trainers
and Management Team are assigned the role of enforcing our Values, Rules, Guidelines,
and Behaviors. Our number one priority
is to keep our clients safe (physically and emotionally). The Academy relies on the knowledge, wisdom,
and stewardship of our Staff to direct and instruct clients in a way that keeps
everyone safe, protecting individuals, and our institution. A Notification serves as an official document on file for
all parties, that there is an issue (isolated and/or ongoing), that needs to be
addressed. This notification also serves
to educate our clients about our Red Card system and what it entails.
What is a Red
Card?
A Red Card is a disciplinary action taken on behalf of Free
Flow Academy to enforce rules and behaviors that protect our clients and
employees. The Red Card System serves as an
official notification, warning, and ultimately suspension system. To be issued a Red Card,Free Flow Management must receive three
complaints from three different people (Staff, Management, and/or
Clients).Red Cards can be distributed without three complaints if the
offense is willfully disobeying our safety rules. Class and Open gym theft can result in
immediate and permanent expulsion from the Academy.
To protect the integrity of the system, we give people many
opportunities to adhere to our policies.
If an instructor feels they need to issue a Red Card, it must be
approved by Management if there have not been any other complaints against the
client. Management will not approve a
Red Card if it’s a first-time offense.
If there are repeat offenses, it’s likely a Red Card will be issued.
We also consider that not all personalities mix well. Our goal is to make sure you thrive. It is not our goal to lose your business,
lose other clients, or lose employees. Which
is why we have 30+ Trainers and Staff to accommodate clients, and a Red Card
system to accommodate Staff. We are very
careful about issuing Red Cards. Trainers
and Staff are not perfect, and sometimes we make mistakes. Which is why we will not issue a Red Card unless there
are three complaints from three different people.
If you feel this notification was given to you in error, feel
free to email us at freeflowacademy@gmail.com. If you have
additional feedback on how the situation could have been handled more
effectively by our Staff, you can fill out the following questions:
Did the Trainer/Manager on Duty use language and demeanor
that is professional, with clear and direct instruction? If not, please explain.
Did the Trainer/Manager uphold our Academy rules? If not, please explain.
Did you feel the Trainer/Manager had your best interest, the
interests of others, and the Academy in mind?
